Fools

Click HERE if you want to read a knowledgeable take on the Burris appointment by the Governor-for-Now of Illinois. Clarence Page cuts through the crap.

Roland Burris has stated publicly that "The appointment is legal. That is all there is. I don't know what all the confusion is about."

I wonder if he was wearing a jester suit when he said that.  Sure, I guess it is legal since Blago is still Governor for now, but that certainly isn't "all there is."

The sad part of all of this is that Rush and his colleagues are trying to prey upon white guilt. While I certainly would like to see a more diverse representation in the Senate (not just race, but also maybe non-millionaires), making Obama's old Senate seat a "black seat" is tokenism. For Bobby Rush to label the Senate's reticence to Burris becoming a Senator as "plantation politics" is just silly.

There are factors beyond race at work. Jeez.

The Democrats are the ones that constantly play identity politics.

Maybe now you can see why it isn't a good idea for the country?

*insert witty remark containing the phrase "coming home to roost" here*

Oh, that's right. The Republicans have never used cultural issues as a means to win elections.

There is a difference between cultural issues, which are a personal choice, and race issues, which are not.

Which party says stuff like "that is a black seat and should stay a black seat" or "we are going to keep this city a chocolate city" or "that person isn't an authentic black man"?

The thing I hate the absolute most about politics today is how people divide up the country into blocs based on crap like race and sexual preference and say "This bloc should only vote for this party", and the members of the bloc seem to agree.

Think for yourself you f-ing sheep. I can't believe their vote counts the same as mine.

Yes, I don't like the idea of a seat being designated as a "black seat" too.

But while some cultural issues can be "choices" (I don't see homosexuality as a choice), I think many of the "f-ing sheep" vote about such issues with little thinking involved. So some of those cultural choices are based on similar shoddy logic as bloc party voting.
