Semi-Super Tuesday

After weeks of having to hear and read about that damn Rev. Wright, Obama turned it around and handily won North Carolina. And now as I write he's only four percentage points behind Clinton in Indiana with a number of Obama-favorable districts still yet to report a substantial portion of their votes.

If this whole political spectacle has taught me anything, it is that you shouldn't go to church so you don't have to be associated with nitwits like Obama's former pastor.

But seriously, Harold Ford Jr. was on MSNBC and espoused the idea that Obama should seriously consider having Clinton as his VP.

I dislike that ticket.

I prefer Obama-Edwards. Or Obama-Richardson. Or Obama-Zinni. With the last ticket, I'd love to hear the phrase "Bay of Goats" used in this presidential election.

It is likely, had Obama gotten more banged up / damaged than he actually did for his poor judgment of hanging out with one that has some racist views he still would have won N.C. - Might not have been as big. B/c of the make up of the state, him winning N.C. is not that significant. I am sure if Wright walked into a N.C. bar, I would imagine that there are many folks putting down a complimentary beverage in front of him.

Not sure if tg dem has children or not. But if tg made a mistake of his own, that his child had nothing to do with - Would he punish his child? As far as Michigan & Florida those votes /delegates should be counted. We continue to fight an ill-conceived war so that another country can have “democracy”, but MI and FL can vote, but there votes just don’t count. If I am wrong someone please explain this to me. I guess we have to pull out of Iraq, and storm into MI & Fl. For MI & FL voters to be in the case that they are is just poor management on the part of the Democratic Party Leaders.

Do not get me wrong, I am no fan of Hilary and her Posse. Honestly I do not care for either Hilary or Obama - But if I had a gun to my head I probably would pick Obama. I may not vote at all, or just do a write in for Scully.

As Southern states go, North Carolina is more diverse than people think. In fact, many "Yankees" have invaded because of its fabled research triangle.

I don't see the Rev. getting many complimentary beverages in NC is what I'm getting at.

North Carolina is quite different than South Carolina, and Twain accurately assessed the latter state with this witticism: "South Carolina--too small for a republic, too large for an insane asylum." As crazy Southern states go, SC is number one with MS and AL tied for second. LA (especially the southern part of the state) is its own world, like Texas, in my opinion.

The MI/FL deal is a red herring. All the candidates vowed not to campaign in the state, and Obama wasn't even on the freaking ballot in MI. The delegates should get seated in some manner since both states are crucial ones for a victory. We'll see how that plays out.

It was, as you say, poor management on the Democratic Party. But the Clintons both had a strong voice in keeping out Michigan and Florida from counting. It's total BS that Billary acts as though they're fighting for those states. Total soul butter and hogwash.

It today's bluster from the Clinton campaign is any indication, she's hurting her chances for any leadership role in the Democratic Party, which doesn't hurt my feelings.

I concede that N.C. has more white population than Black. But N.C. has double the African American population of say a state that Mr. Quintilian was just recently excommunicated from (for non-attendance at Church and other related cases).

Not sure if I am reading too much in between your point(s)............But are you telling me there are no far left Liberal Blacks in N.C. and no far left Whites that would view Wright’s behavior and Church philosophy as acceptable and/or look the other way mainly out of guilt or the notion of being labeled a racist themselves if they were to stand out against Wright?

Thus I still think more beverages would be bought than not.

I think overall that whites (for the most part) don't "get" some black ministers' techniques on the pulpit.

Predominately African-American churches aren't like Catholic masses or bloodless Presbyterian sermons. People shout out, music is played, and ministers (filled with the Holy Spirit of course) say questionable things from time to time.

I'm not saying that the Rev. is right in his rhetorical gyrations: his recent comments confirm that he might need to don a tin-foil lined helmet.

Wright's style of preaching is probably quite acceptable within his community, and I'm sure there are some folks who buy into some of his conspiracies. But I would bet that many folks would say his comments are off-base or kookish, whether they're black or white or brown, etc. And many have done so publicly. And so did Obama after he gave the Rev. a chance to redeem himself.

Obama initially took a "blame the sin, not the sinner" approach, but after Wright's recent comments Obama decided to cut ties with the nitwit.

Obama has tried to espouse "We're all Americans" approach, but others (the MSM, Clinton, et al.) have hounded him on the race issue. Even in Dreams From My Father, he talks extensively about how blacks can fall into the trap of self-misery and blaming "whitey." And contrary to the Clintons' suggestions after his comments in Nevada, he didn't agree with Reagan Administration's "dirty deeds."

He's trying to move people toward the future, not reveling in the past.

The main thing Obama most likely will lead us to into the future is that of bigger government and eventually higher taxes. The reason I feel that Obama did not come out against Wright was due to the fact that he did not want to quickly bite off some of the hands that feed him. Obama is extremely liberal, as is Wright’s former Ministry, and as are many of his supporters. A similar situation to equate it to would be for George Bush to advocate full stem-cell research – If this would be done GW would be biting of the hands of the religious conservatives.

Obama discounting Wright at the time he did was most likely more choreographed and rehearsed in more detail than a Rogers and Hammerstein Broadway musical. Political rhetoric….

As far as “getting Black Churches” – No one has to get “it”. Techniques, style, culture or not…………All anyone has to do / get, is to know reverse racism when they see it.

Obama also knows reverse racism since his grandfather (Hussein) didn't want his father to marry his mother because he didn't want the Obama lineage tainted by white blood.

The first denunciation of the "sin" was choreographed, for sure, but I find it hard to blame a guy for taking his time to denounce a guy who got him interested in a religion that he believes in (Christianity) and a guy that was widely respected in religious circles in the United States. Heck, the Rev. has hung out with Bubba.
