Mizzou, Your Move

Since it seems that Nebraska's move to the Big Ten is imminent, what does Mizzou do?

Any followers of Mizzou care to chime in?

Heck, if I were the Big Ten head honcho, I'd extend invitations to Iowa State, K State, and Kansas. If Mizzou comes on board, then you have a Big Ten that is a mega-conference like the Pac 10 seems destined to become.

It'll be interesting to see what the SEC and ACC does in response to all these conference shifting shenanigans.

And now Colorado is apparently going to the Pac-10.

I guess it's feasible that Mizzou stays put, and the Big 12 adds TCU and a college-to-be-named-later (SMU? Houston?).

If the Big 12 could add TCU + a school to be named then I think it would be OK in the short term, but the conference would still obviously be dominated by Texas. With the resulting uneven revenue sharing, Mizzou would still be a second-class citizen.

I still don't see the SEC having to do anything unless the Big 12 South moves en masse to the Pac-11, as rumored, to make a 16 team conference.

Only then does the SEC have to "respond". I imagine they would pillage the ACC and/or Big East to get to 16 also.

When/if Texas et al move to the Pac 10, then Mizzou needs to beg their way into the Big 10 or they are screwed. Their best bet at this point would be to pair up with another new entrant into the Big 10 *cough*Notre Dame*cough*.

I agree with the following ESPN column. http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/13111/bcs-access-key-to-landing-notre-dame

Clearly ND doesn't care about the TV revenue from a conference, but they have to care about the national championship.

I have gone from excited to forlorn in the last week for Mizzou sports. I hope for the Big 10 or a re-populated Big 12. I fear that Mizzou is f***ed.

Yep, Mizzou better get their stuff together soon.

I find it interesting that A&M is contemplating a move to the SEC without the other Texas schools.
