Music Friday: "Home"

I had never heard of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros until I saw the band's performance on Letterman--click HERE.

They remind of another mass ensemble band I saw in Baldwin Auditorium, Poi Dog Pondering.

These folks give out a neo-hippie, crunchy, granolish vibe. The CD is pretty decent, and "Home" will stick in your head once you hear it.

Oh my god! I have been trying to think of the band that performed the song "Bury Me Deep" for about six months. Yes, I know I could have googled it, but it seems every time I thought of it, I was without access. As soon as I saw your post I was like, duh, Poi Dog Pondering. Am now going to buy the album Wishing Like a Mountain, Thinking Like the Sea from 1990 (how old are we???). I used to have a dubbed copy of this on a tape, but, uhm, well, move across the country 4 times in 7 years and you lose things. THANK YOU for reminding me.

That's a great album. They had a lot of fun at the concert at Truman, with Baldwin Auditorium having an enormous stage. I'm pretty sure that band is still intact. I think they're now based out of Chicago.
