In anticipation of the Argentina vs. England World Cup match, here's the Encyclopedia Brittanica entry on the Falklands War. 

For Father's Day I got this away England kit. Mrs. Nasty got it from OkayJersey, which has great prices. 

I'm thinking about getting the Tottenham away kit for this upcoming season, and I like last season's home kit for Roma. 

The BBC has a good article about the failure of self-checkout machines: "'It Hasn't Delivered': The Spectacular Failure of Self-Checkout Technology." 

I hate those things. 

I'd rather just interact with a human. Plus, there's a great deal of discussion about how businesses are losing all kinds of money because of theft, among other issues. 

However, will businesses persist with self-checkout lanes because of the sunk-cost fallacy?

I was saddened to see that legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker passed away. Here's some an article by USA Today about "Major League Bob Uecker Quotes." 

I'm excited to see that there is going to be a new Daredevil series. Here's an article from a site called RadioTimes: "Daredevil: Born Again."

The Disney+ trailer is intriguing. 

I might have to watch the third season of the Netflix show to remind myself what happened at the end. Of course, there was also The Defenders series too that came after that third season. 

What Marvel needs to do a Power-Man and Iron Fist show (or Heroes for Hire), which might bring some levity to the MCU. 

Because I'm a frugal person, I'm astounded by people who don't return their shopping carts for their quarters. My usual spots for shopping for groceries are Aldi and Ruler Foods. Both places require you to put in a quarter to get a cart. 

However, there are some folks who don't return the carts, and I'm making money by returning their carts. I bet over the course of a year I probably make about 10 bucks doing this. 

I chalk up this frugality of mine to being a son of two parents who were children during the Great Depression. You don't waste money.

Here's some positive news about what could be possibly coming: "The Future Will Be Quiet." The author points to five probable changes that will ease noise pollution. I'm especially pleased about number two because I hate gas-powered leaf blowers and weed whackers because those small engines pollute the hell out of the environment. And they're loud. 

Speaking of noise pollution, the family that moved in up the street has a son. I guess he's probably somewhere in his mid-teens and doesn't seem the sharpest. This kid enjoys driving his noisy, rickety lawn tractor up and down the street. He approached me the other day about him possibly mowing my lawn on a regular basis, which is not going to happen since I have lawn mower, and using a lawn tractor in my front and back yards is silly. I don't think riding up and down the street is a sound marketing plan. Instead of wasting gas, he should read a damn book or something. 

I've lived in this area of east central Illinois for years now, but not until recently did I start shopping at Aldi. The grocery store is in the town that is about eight miles away, but I go to that town usually three days a week to drop off or pick up my daughter from dance and tumbling practice. So I'm now finally reveling in how much good stuff I getting for good prices. Just last week it was announced that my town will be getting an Aldi this fall. Huzzah for the frugal shoppers of Coles County. 

Last night I finished the first season of Marco Polo, which is an Netflix series. I really enjoyed it. I don't know much about Marco Polo or Kubla Khan or Chinese history, so I see a book purchase or two about Polo or Khan in my future.
