I have to say, I haven't heard Nicholas Payton before. I am guessing the title of the song is an homage to Zigaboo Modeliste? That funky, funky drummer who IS New Orleans funk. It's certainly a funky tune.

ReplyDeletePayton and Roy Hargrove are two of my favorite jazz cats out there. Wynton is outstanding, of course, too.
